I am pleased to announce an exhibition of my work in Australia later this year! "Bardo: The Golden Eternity" will take place in November at M16 in Canberra, the capital city. The exhibition is a collaboration of sorts with another artist named Amarie Bergman.
The theme of the show is based on the short book written by Jack Kerouac called "The Scripture of the Golden Eternity'. 2009 marks the 50th anniversary of the publication of the book, as well as the 40th anniversary of the death of Jack Kerouac.
For the exhibition I will retrace the route Kerouac traveled from LA to the cabin in Marin County that Kerouac shared with Gary Snyder and wrote much of the book in 1956. I will continue north to the fire lookout post in NW Washington (state) that Kerouac occupied later that summer in order to complete the book in isolation. I will produce a video and series of new drawings and paintings.
Amarie has actually been in contact with Mr. Snyder about possibly attending the opening, as well other possible venues for this unique celebration! I'll post more as things develop!
